        After 13 years of building custom homes, we have come to realize the importance of knowing what’s inside the walls after the drywall is up. We can’t count the number of times we have heard clients say they wish they knew:

  ● Where that wire (or that pipe) was running so they don’t cut into it;
  ● If that wall they want to take out is load-bearing;
  ● Where the gas line runs; or
  ● If a register is split off another air duct or on its own run.

         Whether you’re thinking of remodeling yourself, or you're hiring a contractor, the
questions are still the same. For the contractors/home builders, are you having your supervisor come in and take pictures at different times when the mechanicals are being installed?

         Usually this consists of several hundred pictures that are filed away in no particular order. Using those pictures in the future to show wiring configurations or plumbing, becomes a guessing game years down the road. And, what if there’s an insurance issue that needs information about a specific point in the house, can you show the exact location that’s being requested?
